NSW: Sydney man charged with terrorism offences

A Sydney man has been charged with terrorism offences after police reportedly seized
a jihad-style video, and learnt of an alleged threat by the man to kill an ASIO officer.

Police say a 20-year-old man from the Sydney suburb of Condell Park was charged last
night over threatening a commonwealth officer.

Police say the man's been charged with the commonwealth offence of committing acts
in preparation for a terrorist act and will appear in Bankstown local court today.

The Australian newspaper says the man has alleged ASIO gave information to the government
which caused his passport application to be rejected.

A police spokeswoman has refused to comment further ahead of a media conference later
in the morning with NSW Deputy Commissioner ANDREW SCIPIONE.
